So, three things:

1. THANK YOU to everyone who has subscribed/followed The Starkillers Cycle! Honestly, Sooz and I were expecting a handful of people (i.e. our husbands and pets) to be interested. We've been completely overwhelmed by the response, so…thank you, thank you, thank you for the enthusiasm and support. We’re tremendously excited to share more of the project in a few weeks!

2. Even though CROWN OF MIDNIGHT is out soon (a few days in the UK, next week in Australia/New Zealand, and two weeks in the US!), if the wait is still miserable, there’s a bonus scene between Celaena and Chaol to tide you over! It's called THE ASSASSIN AND THE CAPTAIN and takes place between TOG and COM. It was an absolute delight for me to write (come on, it’s Celaena & Chaol—how could it NOT have been fun to write?). You can see Part 1 here, Part 2 here, Part 3 here, and Part 4 here. (And THANK YOU to the lovely TOG ambassadors for hosting this!)

3. So, the big news. The BIG/AWESOME/FANTASTIC NEWS.

From the moment I announced the THRONE OF GLASS novellas, I’ve been getting questions about when they’d be released in a physical book form. For a while, I had to say variations of “No idea!” or “Hopefully someday!”… BUT NO LONGER.

Because in May 2014 (March, for you lucky folks in the UK), all four novellas, PLUS a brand-new novella (THE ASSASSIN AND THE HEALER), PLUS some awesome extra content, will be bound up as one anthology/collection called…

I am…beyond, beyond, BEYOND excited that these novellas will now be a physical book (!!!!) & be able to sit on my bookshelf, and-and-andddddd JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE COVER. (Not sure when I can share it, but fingers crossed that it’s soon!) I think it might already be up on Amazon for pre-order, but the release date is wrong (...I think) for the US. Anyway. It's on Amazon. Hooray!

THE ASSASSIN'S BLADE is a reality because of YOU GUYS—because of your enthusiasm for the novellas and their resulting success as ebooks. So, thank you SO MUCH for all that you’ve done for me and this series. I really am the luckiest author in the world to have you guys as readers and just….THANK YOU.

And I want to say thanks to the worldwide team at Bloomsbury, for having such faith in this series—and for making this journey so damn spectacular. It is so, so wonderful (and fun!) to work with you all. I also owe a huge thanks to my fierce and lovely agent, Tamar Rydzinski, for always having my back, and my cunning & brilliant editor, Margaret Miller.

I wrote these four novellas back to back, and I never would have gotten through it without my critique partners: Susan Dennard, Alex Bracken, Kat Zhang, Amie Kaufman, and Jane Zhao. You guys held my hand, shouted at me when I needed some tough lovin’, and always, always kept me motivated and inspired. Thank you. And thank you to Erin Bowman and Marie Lu, for being such lovely friends & reading/supporting these novellas. I'm tremendously blessed to have all you ladies in my life.

Thank you so, so much!!!! :D :D

HOORAY!!!! I honestly feel like a dream just came true - those are the best novellas ever!!! (Even though the almost-end of the fourth makes me cringe and sob)(Insert your last name backwards, basically) I can't wait to have the actual book!! Thanks for sharing such happy news!!
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:10 pm (UTC)
Awwwww--thank you so much!!!

And lol, my last name spelled backwards. Poor Saam. ;)
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:04 pm (UTC)
Yay! Awesome!

Is The Assassin and the Captain be included in it too or not?

So, I finished reading CoM last week and it was FANTASTIC. Loved it so much. But the ending crushed me. So I have a question...

In book 3, are Celaena and Chaol going to be separated for a whole book?
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:11 pm (UTC)
No word yet on what extras will be in the bindup, but I hope TAATC will be included! :)

And thank youuuuuuuu! Re: your question... Lol, my lips are sealed. Sorry!!!
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:32 pm (UTC)
HOW FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!! Oh my goodness. I always hoped they would be turned into a book that we could buy but I'll be honest, I didn't think it would be so soon! This is absolutely fantastic news!!!!

I just finished re-reading all four novellas and the first book (because I'm probably going to do it every year before the next book comes out because, let's face it, I'm obsessed). The novellas were even more wonderful this time around. Your writing and the concise stories and characters you brought to life are so incredible and so real. Not to mention I was crying through all four of them anytime Sam was even mentioned, let alone when he says "we have all the time in the world." Bawling. BAWLING. I hope you cried when you wrote it... otherwise it would be so unfair. ;p

I can't wait to see what book two has in store. Not to mention a new novella! (And trust me I already stalked the Chaol and Celaena story! Loved it. :p)

Can it be August 27th already? Pretty please?

P.S. You SO deserve all of these wonderful things. You've worked your ass off for it!!!! xo
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
aasghagaisghiah THANK YOU.

Confession: I cried while writing almost EVERY scene that featured Sam.

That's great news! I really enjoyed the novellas (and the insight they gave me before the first book). Looking forward to the new one :-)
Aug. 12th, 2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much!
Aug. 12th, 2013 09:17 pm (UTC)

okay, deep breath. Well, I will be stalking Amazon everyday until pre-order is available, that much is certain. eeeeeeeeeeee. When I saw that the goodreads page for The Assassin's Blade said e-book I seriously deflated and was about to ask you for a number I could call to petition for a printed version. True story. I hate phones, but sometimes (as in only instances like this) I love them. But eeeeeee, now I don't have to and I can only squeal right now.

Awww, thank youuuuu!

Congrats! Oh oh I do hope the latest scenes will be included too! It would be so perfect to have a collection of everything together in book form! Can't wait for it to be available on bookdepository!! I hope the extra bonus items include family trees? :D any hints on that?
Aug. 13th, 2013 06:21 pm (UTC)
I hope so too!!! And thanks!! :D

As for family trees... That might be too spoilery to have in the novellas, but...maybe I can look into having it on my website? :)
Aug. 13th, 2013 01:53 am (UTC)

I've been dying, DYING I SAY, because I haven't been able to buy the ebooks (stupid "not available in your region" grumblegrumble).

I'm SO happy I get to read them at last, AND as a physical book so I can hug it and squee to my heart's content :D YAAYYYY!
Aug. 13th, 2013 06:22 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy them!! :D

Oh. My. God! Since last January when I first read the first novella I have been dreaming for the day that I'd be able to read it in an actual book, instead of on the kindle app on my phone or macbook. This is by far and away some of the most amazingly awesome news! I am so excited for you! And I am so excited to own the four novella's in book form! ^_^

And a new novella, yay! And other extra content? Oh, even more super awesome ^_^ I'm so excited for you Sarah! Like jumping up and down :)

Ahhhhhh! I'm so excited that I get to share these with my students!!!
Thank you to your publishers for green-lighting the novellas in book form!!! I'm so excited! I teach high school students, many of whom devoured TOG last year. I was telling them about the novellas because I absolutely loved them, but most of my students don't have e-readers. I work in an at-risk program in an urban school, so many of my kids don't buy books. If it's not on the shelves of my classroom library, they won't go out to find it. And they will LOVE these novellas. I can't wait to add them (and CoM and all of your forthcoming books) to my shelves. ToG helped many of my students learn to love reading, and I know your other books will do the same. I hope that you continue to write forever so that I always have great reads to share with my students. Thank you for writing.

And I love the Starkillers Cycle. It's so GOOD so far. I had to open a Tumblr account just to read the story. Can't wait for future installments!

Re: Ahhhhhh! I'm so excited that I get to share these with my students!!!
Oh, wow. Thank you so, so much... Your comment seriously just brought me to tears. I am HONORED that you've shared TOG with your students, and so, so thrilled that it's gotten some of them into reading. You've just made my day/life. Really, hearing this makes all of the long hours and hard work absolutely worth it. Thank you for not only championing TOG to your students, but championing READING to them, too. Teachers like you are invaluable and life-changing. :)

Do you mind giving me your email address? I'd love the chance to send you some TOG stuff for your classroom. :) (You can also just email me at SarahATSarahJMaasDOTcom)

And thank you for reading/enjoying the Starkillers Cycle! I can't wait for you to read more! :D

I'm so excited these will be in physical form, soon! I just re-arranged my bookshelves so I could have a mini-shrine to all things Harry Potter and now I'm envisioning one for Throne of Glass, too.... it might include swords and my carnival masks instead of tea pots. Can't wait to see the covers! Congratulations!

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER! I need a physical copy on my shelves STAT. Congratulations Sarah!!!
