Well, holy crap. THAT was an unexpectedly long break from blogging! I meant to update over the holidays, but I wound up spending most of December away from a computer (including one heavenly week at a beach house in FL with my soul-twin, Sooz), and have been playing catch-up on emails/deadlines ever since.
I don’t actually have *that* much to say, other than (yay! It’s List Time!):
1) A belated HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2012 was AMAZING—here’s hoping 2013 is even better!
2) It’s Deadline City around here (I’ve been working on some Secret Stuff that I will be murdered if I talk about right now), and I’m expecting copyedits for Book 2 sometime next week (maybe). With that in mind, I’m hoping to get back on a regular blogging schedule beginning in February.
3) Even though I might be buried under some deadlines for the rest of the month, DEFINITELY check out the THRONE OF GLASS FB page! We’ll be announcing some BIG STUFF next week! Eeeee! (Side note: can I just *die* for a second over the fact that there are over 10,600 of you on the FB page?! Jesus. You guys are INCREDIBLE.)
4) Speaking of TOG & FB… My AMAZING Mexican publisher, Alfaguara Juvenil (an imprint of Santillana), just created a TOG FB page for Spanish-speaking fans! Even if you don’t speak the language, it’s definitely worth checking out! Yesterday, I stumbled across THESE incredible gems (click for larger images):
Okay, because I don’t speak Spanish & because the “translate” feature on FB is pretty atrocious, I’m not sure which is the actual cover (or maybe there’s another cover floating around), but…holy hell. I am OBSESSED with them. Especially the first one! The border with the roses and the swords and the arrows…! Wahhhhhhhh.
5) This happened last month:
(Still can’t quite believe it happened, actually.)
6) And here’s some amaaaaazing Celaena-Chaol fan-art from the mind-blowingly talented Linnea. It’s now my desktop background, the wallpaper of my iPhone, and is hanging on the wall of my office.
Annnnd that’s about it for me.
Anyone see any good movies lately? (LOVEDDDD: Zero Dark Thirty. LOVED But It’s Complicated: The Hobbit. Liked But Wanted To Love: Les Mis. Absolutely Hated: Pitch Perfect. Still Want To See: Argo, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Life of Pi, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Amour).
Hope you guys are well!

And I, too, totally dig the fan-art!! What I wouldn't give for one-100th of that kind of creativity. Phew.
Here's wishing you an even more phenomenal 2013 than you had in 2012!!
And I know--Linnea is SO talented! I wish I had her drawing skillsssss!
Best of luck with writing, editing, and having time to actually read for pleasure and go see movies! Wishing you all the best, and look forward to continuing on this journey with you!
I'm surprised you hated Pitch Perfect! I loved it but I like acapella mash-ups? Haha. On the other hand, I'm a little terrified that I'm going to hate Les Mis (still on my to-see list as are most of the movies that are also on your to-see list). I'm totally with you on the Loved But It's Complicated feels towards The Hobbit. It did, however, re-ignite my love for Lee Pace, and I've been watching Pushing Daisies again (which is still brilliant and I'm still sad they canceled it!). Life of Pi was excellent - soul-searching and moving and absolutely visually stunning. I hate the whole 3D thing, but I think for Pi, it's actually kind of worth it. Beasts of the Southern Wild was lovely too. That little girl is captivating in her role and I loved that it was sort of this modern fairy tale - part slice-of-life, part darkness, part whimsy.
Anyway, happy New Year and good luck with all your deadlines!!
And OMG. When Lee Pace showed up in The Hobbit, my ovaries exploded. SO HOTTTTTTT. *melts*
As for movies, I totally agree with Les Mis. I really wanted to love it!!!! But I only liked it. :/
And the Life of Pi was beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. Also, I watched Gladiator for the first time ever this week (what is WRONG with me??) and it was incredible. I have the last song from the CD's you sent me and now I want the entire soundtrack because that music was incredible!!!!
Hopefully you don't disappear on us again!!!
Checking my inbox faithfully ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just liked Les Mis. I had so many issues with it, but I'm pretty sure 90% of those issues are more about the musical/show itself and not about the film...
I WILL EMAIL YOU SOOOON!
Not gonna lie, I kind of want to start a TOG book collection. All the covers are way too pretty! You are one lucky author!
I'm still in awe over all of linnea's art. SO GORGEOUS! <3
Let's see... I think the only new movie I've seen is The Hobbit! Do tell - why's it complicated? My brother kind of said the same thing, but I am completely in love. With Aidan Turner (just... Kili's an archer! For some reason archers are always my favorites...) and Richard Armitage and those intense eyes - I love that man (have you seen North & South?). Wrap it all up in a Middle Earth package and my life is happy :D Though, I haven't read the book, getting to that (but my list is ridiculously long)!
Re: The Hobbit: I ADORED it (and saw it twice!), but... Well, I didn't have the emotional connection to it that I had INSTANTLY with LOTR. Granted, I don't think it's entirely fair to compare LOTR and The Hobbit because they are SUCH different books, aimed at such different audiences, but... Agh. I could go on about this for a while, and don't want to bore you to tears. But I really *did* love The Hobbit, but...it's complicated. :P
I really liked the Hobbit as well, and yeah, Les Mis could have been better than it was. You hated Pitch Perfect? Can I ask why? I thought it was pretty funny?
Congrats on all the success! It's well deserved!
Okay, I *did* think Pitch Perfect was funny in spots (Fat Amy was the best part of that movie), but thought the writing, acting, and directing was atrocious. I also HATED the main character (eyeliner and listening to David Guetta do NOT make you edgy!), and thought the pacing was a mess. The music, too, could have been a bit cooler/more interesting...
I honestly REALLY wanted to love the movie, and was SO EXCITED to watch it, but... It just wasn't my thing AT ALL.
I have a soapbox for the hobbit, that I will now title "loved it but it's complicated". Because it is. And the points you've made in the comments about it, I completely agree with.
Congrats on the PW front page, no less. :) That is really cool!
Loving that you guys are doing the word battles again. I try to sneak one in every now and then...but it's tricky. The sad thing is I could really use joining all of them, I've put myself on a deadline, and I'm so blocked/not-the-right-kind-of-emo about the story right now it's terrible.
Go you for working on real deadlines and getting it all done! Can't wait to find out what the secret stuff is all about. :)
Congrats on all your FB fans - those Spanish covers look so badass. The fanart is pretty awesome too.
Congrats on the PW page, too. Flying starts in children's books, indeed!
Re: movies. If you loved ZDT, you'd probably like Argo? Well, it would really depend on what it was you loved about ZDT, but I thought Argo was quite enjoyable.
Also, if you decide to watch Life of Pi, you should definitely watch it in 3D - with its beautiful cinematography, it was MADE to be see in 3D :)
As for movies, since November I've seen;
Twilight: Breaking Dawn pt2---which I adored.
The Hobbit---which I loved but it's complicated also
and
Les Mis---which I adored to the max! I bawled my way through it... I'm surprised that you didn't totally 100% love it! What was it about it that put you off?
Also, glad to hear that you had a fantastic Christmas! And Happy 2013 to you too! Here's hoping that 2013 is just as kickass awesome as 2012 was for ya! ^_^
Take Care!

Good luck with your deadlines. Can't wait to hear deets about the secret project ahh!! I'm going to England for a student exchange at the end of the month and am TOTALLY picking up a UK Throne of Glass - absolutely love their cover!
<3 Loie
Sorry I've been super MIA lately, but I got drafted a few weeks ago, so I haven't had much time to roam the internet, though, I'm trying to keep up with all the great ToG news :)
I'm so going to buy a copy for my mom, she loved your story when I told it to her, but she doesn't speak english, so yay for her and everyone else who are finally gonna be able to read Throne of Glass <3
The cover is apparently the first one that you posted, and it is absolutely amazing.
Linnea has awesome ToG fanart! Speaking of, did you know there's now a Throne of Glass group on deviantART? I think Linnea started it. You can find it here.
Also, I'm really digging the Mexican book covers. They're absolutely gorgeous. ♥
Sorry, haven't seen any movies recently. (I don't watch a lot of movies) The last thing I watched was Skyfall with my family.
Anyway, the top one says (aside from the title and your name):
"(Un corazón de hielo"
A heart of ice.
(Una voluntad de hierro)
A will of iron.
(Conoce a la asesina Celaena Sardothien)
Know the assassin Celaena Sardothien.
(PROXIMAMENTE)
SOON"
The bottom one says aside from the title and your name "(Bella) Beautiful. (Letal) Lethal. (Destinada a la grandeza) Destined for greatness."
Hope that helps :)
