Greetings from the revision trenches! I don’t really have much to say right now, BUT I do have some really, really awesome news to share (not about me, though, and perhaps a few days late)….
Brigid Kemmerer, AKA my dearest friend, agency sister, and critique partner, just sold her debut novel, ELEMENTAL, to K Teen! A three-book deal. At AUCTION.
And, just because I'm SO freaking proud, here's her deal listing from PM:
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I can’t think of another person who deserves this more than Brigid—she’s not only an amazing writer with a fantastic book, but she’s also an incredible person. When she called to say that she’d gotten an offer, I burst into tears. The good kind of tears—the kinda tears that happen only when you know how long someone you love has been waiting and wishing and working, and you get to be a part of their dream coming true.
And when she sent me a message the next day saying that another publisher had put in an offer and ELEMENTAL was going to auction, I screamed “HOLY SHIT!” in the middle of my office. No joke. These are the moments that make this journey worth it. You can have all the personal success in the world, but I don’t think it means anything unless you have people to share it with, and people whose own journeys matter as much to you as your own.
So, if you do one thing today, please go congratulate Brigid on her (super-entertaining) blog. And follow her on twitter. Because she’s gonna be a big, big star, and I love her and her books to death.
And Brigid (this part’s for you): I am so, so grateful that you came into my life. I don’t know how I got so lucky. You are the sister I never had, and I only actually started weeping when you told me that ELEMENTAL would be a 2012 release, because it means that we're going to travel this path to publication TOGETHER. You deserve all the success that is coming your way—and I’m sure there will be a LOT of it.
CONGRATULATIONS, BRIGID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. How does a book going to auction work, exactly?
Good luck with finishing your book--I know all your hard work will pay off! :)
I'm going to post about the auction in a few weeks, after the 18th. I have some other news to go along with the auction story, but I have to wait a while to post it. Stay tuned...

(and thanks!)
'Elemental' sounds like something that would be fun to write about. It certainly sounds like something that can achieve success. I think I'll want to keep an eye out for it.
And YES--ELEMENTAL is incredible, too. Definitely read it when it comes out!
I really want to read both of your books. 2012, please come quickly!!!
And YES! 2012 cannot come soon enough!!
And definitely check out Brigid's blog. She's awesome.
I totally am following Brigid's blog now and her book is up on my Goodreads list (so is yours!).
